Fall REVIVAL Time Is Here!

Fall REVIVAL Time Is Here!

We will gather October 26, 27 & 28, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. in unique ways to continue a long-standing tradition. Come to the church with a mask on and sit in the sanctuary or view the worships via livestream on Facebook (SJBCRI).

The following quote is from The African American Lectionary: A collaborative project of the African American Pulpit and American Baptist College of Nashville:

“Very simply, if our revivals are real, then there should be some signs; those outside of our community of faith should recognize the changes. In African American communities, revival is something heavily anticipated. We expect to hear a powerful Word of God that will open up avenues into the scriptures that we have not normally seen. We expect that the choir will sing a song that touches our hearts. We expect to be able to tell our friends and colleagues that they missed a powerful blessing from God when they missed this Word that came to us.”

We at St. James are a multi-cultural community who remembers well the struggles, challenges and joys of the past in African American settings. The entire globe is still in the grips of a pandemic that has provoked struggles and challenges beyond our collective imaginations. We come to REVIVAL seeking to re-charge our spiritual energy, re-dedicate our lives to the Lord, re-new our commitment to being a Christian in word and deed and re-view the blessings we enjoy today. This is also a time for those who do not possess the “RE” prefix to come to a deep knowledge of the salvation made available to everyone through the sacrifice of Christ.

Please join me in praying for our Revival Preacher, The Reverend Thomas. A. Mills, Jr. of Grace Church New Britain, CT. His preaching style is reminiscent of preachers of old who delivered the word in such a way that hardened hearts say: “Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?”**

Revival time is time well spent. It is time for re-considering our destination preparation.

JC Thomas, MS, MA Pastor
